Remember why you started in the first place
When in doubt, remember why you started. You likely wanted to share. We’ll all have moments of doubt. And likely lonliness. But here are some reminders and reasons to keep going:
- What if it helps someone? What if someone really needs to hear what you say today? One of the best feelings as a creator, as a writer, as a sharer, is when someone says something like “thank you, this is exactly what I needed to hear.” Or “this made me laugh and I really need that.” If you didn’t share that thought, that post, or that video, you wouldn’t have been able to connect, and help. One of the biggest reasons to keep creating is outside yourself: you might really be helping others.
- There’s value in the process. In committing to something that’s meaningful to you. To showing up consistently and doing the work.
- You’ll meet amazing people. You’ll likely expand your contact list, relationships, network, and maybe even some people who become great friends.
- You’ll become a stronger person. You get to practice courage as you push yourself further to share more, be more creative, and more helpful.
- You’re gaining valuable skills. You’re gaining experience and muscle memory in important skills in the evolving digital economy.
Remember, there will be hard parts. But if you’re able to manage the downsides alongside the upsides, it can be extremely rewarding. Despite the hard parts, you’ll emerge as a strong person.
